Travelers on board the Anakonda Amazon Cruises will enjoy a wide variety of national and international fusion cuisine. We take traditional and well-known cuisine from all over the world and adapt it using fresh, local products. It’s not unusual for our guests to enjoy unique fare such as Quinoa Risotto or fish prepared in coconut sauce.

The Anakonda Amazon River Cruise operates year round. Every trip is unique, based on the changing seasons. During the high water season, when the water levels of rivers and inlets grow, launch boats are able to venture deeper into the flooded forest. During the low water season, the river recedes to form beautiful sandy river beaches.

Our guests may choose from four, five and eight-day itineraries, each one of them with spectacular highlights that are sure to make every passenger’s trip a memorable experience. On our 8D/7N itinerary, we visit Yasuni National Park, the Cuyabeno Wildlife reserve, and the Limoncocha and Pañacocha biological corridors, giving our passengers the opportunity to connect with the Ecuadorian Amazon and experience its wonders.

Sacha Lodge

The journey to Sacha Jungle Lodge begins in Quito, Ecuador's capital city. From here, a 25-minute flight takes you over the Andes Mountains majestic snow-covered peaks and down over 8.500 feet (2.600 meters) into the Amazon Region. The flight destination is the port town of Puerto Francisco de Orellana, locally known as Coca, where you will be met by a bilingual guide and taken to a private dock. Here we will pause for a snack and to use the rest rooms before boarding our covered motorized canoe for a 2-hour, 50-mile (80-kilometer) trip down the sediment-rich waters of the Napo, the largest river in Ecuadorian Amazonia.

During the ride it is easy to spot handsome shore birds such as herons, kingfishers, spoonbills and ospreys between the scattered native huts as you travel steadily away from civilization. Upon arrival to Sacha Lodge's 5.000-acre (2.000-hectare) private reserve, our guests will take their first walk along a raised boardwalk through dense flooded palm forest where several species of monkeys are often sighted. But don't worry... we will carry your luggage for you!

The path leads to Pilchicocha Lake, a blackwater paradise where you'd least expect to find any sign of people, but dugout canoes (and even paddlers) await to carry you even farther. As you cross the lake, the cries of tropical birds lead you to your final destination and home base for an exciting jungle experience.

Napo Wildlife Center

The most luxurious lodge in Ecuador's Amazon.
The lodge consists of 10 luxury cabañas and a large dining hall with a library and a well-stocked bar.
Attached to the bar is a 50-foot viewing tower from which you can see the Andes on a clear day!
The rooms are huge (over 450 sq. ft.), always clean, and include:

- One king-sized bed and one twin-sized bed (up to 3 people)
- Private bathrooms with on-demand hot water showers
- Private porches with lake views
- 24-hour electricity with plenty of lights and plenty of 120v outlets
- Ceiling fans and secure screens for plenty of bug-free ventilation

The lodge itself is beautiful with local architecture, hardwood floors and well considered amenities.
Monkeys, Parrots, and Giant Otters during the day, with the comfort of a hot shower, tasty dinner, and a cold beer at the end of the day. This is the way to see the rainforest in luxury.

¿How to get there?
To get to Napo Wildlife Center (map), guests fly by jet from Quito to the town of Coca (officially known as Francisco de Orellana) on the Napo River. After a short drive from the airport to the dock, we board a large, motorized, covered canoe for a scenic two-hour trip down the Napo River. Upon arriving at the entrance to the NWC Reserve, we switch to smaller, dugout canoes and are paddled up the blackwater creek to the lake and lodge (no motorized transport is allowed on the creek or lake so that wildlife isn't disturbed).

This paddle can take anywhere from one to three hours, as on the creek guests might see Giant Otters, potoos, kingfishers, Hoatzins, jacamars, hawks, and monkeys. We eat lunch en route and arrive at the lodge by late afternoon. We have put together a GPS waypoint file (in Garmin Map Source format) for our guests who use GPS units.

Are possible any day of the week except Sunday (because there are no flights to Coca on Sundays). We recommend no fewer than 4 days/3 nights at Napo Wildlife Center , and find that our guests prefer 5 days/4 nights because it allows them to take advantage of all of the attractions.
